个人简介：Professor Kwan chaired the 10th International Conference on Computer-Aided Planning for Public Transport and is a program and steering committee member of many international conferences on scheduling and optimization. Professor Kwan is mainly engaged in transportation vehicle and crew scheduling optimization research. He has held 9 substantial research grants funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and one EU-funded research project; being the Principal Investigator in four of them covering "Integrated bus service planning and vehicle scheduling", "Object oriented public transport vehicle scheduling", "Robust rail driver schedules planning and delay recovery", and "Train unit scheduling optimization". Professor Kwan founded Tracsis Plc in 2004. The company provides leading-edge scheduling software and consultancy for transportation companies. Tracsis is highly recognized by mainstream transportation companies in the UK and overseas. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2007 and currently has a market capitalization of £188 million (about RMB1.7 billion). Professor Kwan has published many academic papers in internationally renowned journals and conferences, and directed many successful doctoral students. （Kwan教授是第十届公共交通运输计算机辅助规划国际会议的主席，是许多关于调度规划、调度算法和元启发式方法的国际会议委员会的成员。Kwan教授主要从事运输车辆、乘务组调度优化相关研究。共主持/参与9项由英国工程与物理科学研究理事会和1项由欧盟资助的研究课题，并担任其中四项的总负责人。该四项课题分别为：综合公交服务系统规划的车辆调度、基于对象建模的公共交通车辆调度、铁路司机调度和延误恢复的鲁棒性研究、动车组调度优化。Kwan教授于2004年创办Tracsis股份有限公司。该公司主要为运输企业提供前沿的运输组织技术，公司被英国乃至海外的主流运输企业高度认可，并于2007年在伦敦证券交易所上市，目前公司市值为一亿八千八百万英镑，约合人民币17亿元。Kwan教授在国际知名业内期刊和会议中发表多篇学术论文，并成功指导多位学生完成博士学业。）

讲座简介：Efficient passenger rail transport is vitally important for a successful economy. This talk will focus on the optimisation of the two resources needed to operate a rail service. Although the scheduling problems are NP-hard, successful solution algorithms have been derived. （高效的客运铁路运输对经济的成功至关重要。这次讲座的重点是优化运营铁路服务所需的两项资源（动车组和乘务组地调度优化）。虽然调度问题是NP难问题，但已经派生出很多成功的求解算法。）
