On April 27, at 2 PM, professor Liu's academic lectures successfully held in room 01105 of the nine information building in campus. The theme of this lecture is an introduction to planning for transportation and Public transport planning practice, part of the teachers and the students from School of transportation and logistics were listening to lectures.
The speaker is professor Liu Xiaobo,who works as a senior planner and model manager in a fortune 500 company named Jacobs Engineering Group(ENR has three consecutive years ranked the first three American Engineering consulting company) now. He majored in the model development and application of transportation system planning. He takes a part-time professor In southwest jiaotong university in 2010, School of transportation and logistics, as a doctoral supervisor in 2011. and was awarded Tie Er Yuan expert advisor in 2012.
At the beginning of the lecture, professor liu xiaobo firstly introduces the traffic engineering and traffic planning between contact, he noted that traffic planning is to predict the demand of the traffic system capability, and traffic engineering is needed for the design and construction to meet forecast ability. In combination with example Professor liu put forward the nature reasons leading to traffic problems for the problem of land use, and points out that through the road system geometric design, traffic flow, and traffic control means those three big aspects to solve the existing traffic problems. Then, professor liu introduced the xi an intersection traffic improvement problem of case analysis, and combined with traffic simulation, explained the problem of traffic congestion improvement steps.
Next, professor liu introduced the experience and method of public traffic planning. He first introduced the history of public transport planning practice, as well as the state formulates "bus city" goal, and then introduces the development of public transport and road system "competition - cooperation relationship. Professor liu cites advanced cases of bus systems in the development of the European and American countries. introducing the public traffic system planning , design experience and general principles in detail from the public transportation system planning idea, operation mode ,and operation feature, etc.
At the end of the lecture, professor liu and those students participated in the lecture conducted friendly exchanges, and answered to the students one by one. At this point, the academic lecture ended successfully.
